I read your write-up and it sounds like an interesting conference.
Regarding the Tout's hypothesis of the formation of the magnetic feel in the
white dwarfs, did he provide any comparison of the average masses of the
binary white dwarfs vs the lone white dwarfs? If the single white dwarfs
are the result of a merger between M-dwarfs and White dwarfs then the former
should have more mass (on average) then the latter white dwarf.

conference here in Tucson, Arizona.
