Dusty,

When I tune to the transmitter in Puerto Rico (40.75 kHz) my receiver is 
very sensitive to local interference from electrical devices in my house 
such as PC's and monitors. The trace will jump up or down to a different 
level and then continue a normal trace just at a different level. I'm not 
positive, but I suspect that you may have some local interference which both 
of the frequencies you are recording are sensitive to, causing both both 
traces to jump to a new level at the same time and then continue normally at 
that new level. Then when the interference stops or changes you get the 
change in levels again.
