The AAVSO has created the AAVSOnet network of remote, robotically controlled, and automatically queued telescopes for the use of its members. Several telescopes, located worldwide, are currently active and taking data right now.
The telescopes are all automatically scheduled using ACP [1], with image acquisition and telescope control by MaxIm DL. Time on the telescopes is shared between AAVSO key projects (primarily surveys and field calibrations) and AAVSO member programs. Time on AAVSOnet telescopes is awarded on a nominally competitive basis, although the systems may be used by members for any reasonable purpose if time is available.
To request time on these telescopes, you must be a current member of the AAVSO in good standing, or have the approval of the AAVSO Time Allocation Committee. To submit a proposal to use these telescopes, please complete the AAVSOnet Proposal Form. For a list of previous observing runs, click here [2].
The AAVSO is currently performing an all sky photometric survey of stars from ~10th-17th magnitude. APASS, the AAVSO All Sky Photometric Survey [3] has pairs of astrographs operating in Chile and New Mexico.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of SBIG (furnishing cameras, filter wheel and spectrographs); Diffraction Limited (supplying copies of MaxIm DL); and DC3 Dreams (providing ACP and ACP Scheduler). Without this kind of vendor support, AAVSOnet would not be a reality. Many volunteers are involved in AAVSOnet activities, including each of the site managers (John Gross, Tom Smith, Peter Nelson and Jaime Garcia). If you are interested in volunteering, let us know by emailing aavso@aavso.org [4].

To apply for time on any of the AAVSOnet telescopes you need to fill out a AAVSOnet Proposal Form describing the targets, methodology and science goals of your project.
