A bright (magnitude 11.9 unfiltered) transient has been discovered and confirmed in Lupus (Dec. -44) on the fringes of a spiral galaxy. Additional observations are encouraged and spectroscopic confirmation is urgently needed to determine the nature of the object. Details are in AAVSO Special Notice #337 [1].
