LAST LIST FOR MONITORING OF ROSAT TARGETS

The x-ray ROentgen SATellite (ROSAT) is reaching the end of its survey mode of 
operations at the end of January. So there are only tWo more weeks during which 
this survey mode of the satellite will continue to observe cataclysmic variables.

Below are the observing target lists for the coming tWo weeks. Please monitor 
these stars as closely as you can and call in your observations to Headquarters 
immediately if you observe any of them brightening from their quiescent state. 
Early alerts to the onset of outbursts are vital for the scheduling of simultaneous 
multiwavelength observations. Also, for those stars which have both narrow and 
wide outbursts, please continue to call in your observations for the first three 
nights of an outburst so we may determine which type of outburst it is and so 
inform the ROSA T team.

The success in studying cataclysmic variables going into and in outburst that the 
ROSAT team of astronomers has had to date has been very much dependent on your 
close monitoring of these observing targets and your phone alerts to us. Your 
continued dedication is essential to this program's success.

The answering machine (617-354-0484) at Headquarters is left on nights and 
weekends. We monitor the messages regularly throughout these times. Also, 
please send in the charges for your telephone calls so that we may reimburse 
you.
