Bateson of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand reported, via A. Gilmore of Mount John Observatory, the photographic discovery of a probable nova by P. Camilleri, Cobram, Victoria, Australia, on July 29.406 UT at magnitude 8.5. Gilmore reports the precise position (1950) of this object as: RA 18h 10m 58.12s Dec. -32deg 13' 23.6" The object has been confirmed visually, and appears to be fading quite quickly, as the following observations indicate: July 29.504 UT 7.0 W. Goltz, Tarnagulla, Victoria, Australia 29.505 7.3 P. Williams, Heathcote, NSW, Australia 30.096 7.9 J. Bortle, Stormville, NY 30.33 8.2 A Jones, Nelson, New Zealand 30.37 8.1 A Jones 30.438 8.1 D. Bortle 31.90 9.5 A Pereira, Cabo da Roca, Portugal Aug 1.156 9.4 J. Bortle Please use the accompanying AAVSO charts to observe this object, and report your observations to AAVSO Headquarters. When the nova falls below the limiting magnitude of the "b" chart, please use the VZ Sgr "e" scale chart until a "d" scale chart is prepared for the object. Our congratulations to P. Camilleri for his discovery! SPECIAL MULTIWAVELENGTH MONITORING OF 0201+14 IT ARIETIS Many thanks to those observers who are participating in the coordinated multiwavelength observing of IT Ari on August 1-2. Please submit your observations of IT Ari to AAVSO Headquarters. For visual observers, please report your the time of your observations to the minute (4 decimal places of the JD). For photometric observers, please report the time of your observations to the second (5 decimal places of the JD). The Headquarters answering machine (617-354-0484) is on nights and weekends for your convenience. Janet Mattei, who is in Buenos Aires, Argentina, attending the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union, and I thank you for your efforts and valuable observations. Good observing!
