 1. 0049+00 GRB041006

The HETE satellite detected an abnormally bright GRB at 12:18:08.62 UT
on Oct. 6, 2004. G. da Costa et al. (GCN 2765) report an afterglow at
the following position:

        R.A.: 00:54:50.17 Dec.: +01:14:07.0 (J2000)

The afterglow was confirmed by H. Fukushi (GCN 2767) at R=~17 and D.B.
Fox et al. (GCN 2768) confirmed a fading behavior in I of -0.45 +/-
0.15 mag between 12:32:07 UT and 12:41:36 UT.

** Please observe this object as soon as possible and for as long as
possible. GRBs fade quickly. Time is of the essense! **

Observe in R, Ic, or V (in order of preference). Please make your
photometry as accurate as possible and get a good SNR. Report your
observations to the AAVSO as 0049+00 GRB041006.

 Charts are online at:

This GRB may be similar to GRB030329 which had a very bright and long
last afterglow. The AAVSO International High Energy Network published
our GRB030329 observations as IBVS 5415. As before, if we have enough
data to publish then all contributors will be listed as coauthors.

Please consult the AAVSO International High Energy Network Discussion
Group for discussion and reports on this GRB:
