1. SPITZER SPACE TELESCOPE OBSERVATIONS OF VAR HER 04
The last of Dr. Steve Howell's observations of Var Her 04 with the
Spitzer Space Telescope has been scheduled for the following time:
May 05 2005 00:09:58 UT
We would like to coordinate a short but intense multicolor campaign
for 6 hours centered on this time. So please observe Var Her 04 in V
and Ic during this window:
May 04 21:00:00 UT - May 05 03:00:00 UT
Time resolution is not as important for this campaign as for the
earlier campaigns since we are not attempting any period analysis. So
feel free to take long exposures and stack your images. Shoot for an
SNR of 50 but, as always, do your best and adapt for your system and
observing conditions.
We prefer that you stick with one filter instead of alternating. So
if you plan to observe please post to the AAVSO Photometry Discussion
Group which filter you will use (or e-mail me). That way we can be sure
we have at least one observer in each filter at all times.
Here is a table of comp stars for those imaging in Ic. *** Note this
table has changed since our posting on April 14. We found an error
in the 2nd comp star value which has been fixed. (1)

Additional observations are requested over the next observing season.
The red field companion to Var Her 04 may be brightening and could be a
semiregular star. In addition, we would like to keep an eye on Var Her
04 as we continue to gather more data during this season. One more
campaign is expected in July to coincide with radial velocity
measurements at a major observatory. So after this week's campaign we
would like to ask all observers to get at least one data point in V or
Ic (or Rc if you don't have Ic) every two weeks until the end of the
season. Since these are single snapshot observations, aim for SNR=100.
Don't be afraid to stack many images.
Good luck!
1 - Previous observers who used that star have been contacted and their
observations in our database adjusted or replaced. Currently available
online data is correct.
