Abstract  In 2002, NASA awarded the AAVSO a 2-year grant to error check over 9.5 million observations in the AAVSO International Database from the founding of the organization in 1911 through 2001 and to make these observations available to researchers and the public. The purpose of the project was a systematic search of the data to look for potential and obvious errors, and to investigate and rectify any problems. In this paper, a project description is given and future data validation plans are reported.
