Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2006 19:31:04 -0500 From: Geoff Gaherty I'm confident in my own estimates (darn it, RS Oph was definitely 9.3 > I call it "validating my own data." I do this too. I transcribe my observations to my database, which generates a text file in WebObs format (I'm on a Mac, so can't use PCObs), and submit them. I read my email for ten minutes, then check QuickLook to make sure they've been entered. Then I check each one in the LCG. A couple of times a year, I'll see one that's obviously off and I immediately send an email asking that it be deleted. The tools the AAVSO provides on the web site make it very easy to become an accurate observer in a relatively short time. Thanks to Aaron and company for making them work so well!
