Mike is right. Dan is a great guy who went out of his way to see that new  
observers felt comfortable in the AAVSO. In my case, Dan put me in contact with  
Tim Hager. Tim is a real wacko from Conn and we are still friends today. I 
think  we were the first real success of the mentoring program. Although I 
haven't been  active in the AAVSO in a few years Tim and I still are friends and 
share a  Klondike now and then.
