AAVSO LIGHT CURVES ONLINE
We are very happy to announce that AAVSO observations are now
available online in the form of light curves!
You can now graph the light curve of any star in the AAVSO observing
program and for any time interval from October, 1961 to September 1998
(JD 2437600 - 2451058)!
Over 7 million observations in the AAVSO International Database are now at
your fingertips! All you need is a web browser and a star(s) of your
choice.
We at the AAVSO Headquarters are very excited about this and hope you
enjoy the program. It can be accessed at the following URL
http://www.aavso.org/curvegenerator.stm
or directly through our home page.
We welcome your comments and suggestions!

1749-31 NOVA SCORPII 1998
We have been informed by William Liller, Vina del Mar, Chile, and by the
Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams (IAU Circular 7034) of Liller's
photographic discovery of a probable nova in Scorpius on October 21.0266 UT
at magnitude 6.9.
Visual confirmation was made by Albert Jones, Nelson, New Zealand, and
Gordon Garradd, Loomberah, NSW, Australia. Garradd gives the following
precise position of the nova:
R.A. = 17h 55m 24.99s Decl. = -31 degrees 01' 41.5" (equinox 2000)
For more information, an AAVSO preliminary chart, and a CCDV image of N Sco 98
please see AAVSO Alert Notice 252, which is posted on the AAVSO web page.

Congratulations to Bill on his latest discovery!
