Clotilde, Ile de Reunion, of a supernova in NGC 3318 at CCD magnitude 14.8 on images taken May 26.666 and 27.729 UT using an 0.305-m telescope. Nothing was seen down to magnitude 20 on an image taken by him on Feb. 2, or down to magnitude ~22 on a Digital Sky Survey image taken Jan 24, 1980. Chassagne reports the position of SN 2000cl, located 6" east and 7" south of the galaxy center, as: R.A. = 10h 37m 16.07s Decl. = -41 degrees 37' 47.8" (2000.0) A. Maury, Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, reports that a spectrum obtained by L. Vanzi, L. Testi, C. Lidman, and him on May 27 UT using the 1.5-m Danish telescope (+DFOSC) at the European Southern Observatory that showed the object to be a Type II supernova (IAU Circular 7432). Chassagne's image and the spectrum by Vanzi et al. may be seen at http://sc6.sc.eso.org/~lvanzi/sn3318.html . An AAVSO preliminary chart is forthcoming and will be posted on the AAVSO website. Congratulations to Robin on his latest discovery! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1910-33 RY SAGITTARII - ERRATUM The entry for this R CrB star in News Flash #626 should have read: The R CrB star RY Sgr is recovering from its recent fading as indicated by the following observations: AAVSO Observer AAVSO Observer UT Mag.
