Our colleagues at Space Telescope Science Institute have informed us that using the observations that you have already reported, FUSE is scheduled to observe SS Cygni tonight, with a second observing run on Tuesday (Nov. 7), and the third probably next Friday (Nov. 10). The purpose of the FUSE observations is to study the structure and the different features of the accretion disk and its surroundings, to examine the composition of the inner disk and possibly the white dwarf, and to study the wind blowing from the surface of the disk as a function of outburst state. We thank the observers who have been sending observations of the current outburst. Your observations are crucial both in the scheduling of FUSE and in correlating the multiwavelength data. Please monitor SS Cyg very closely, if possible several times throughout the night, and keep us informed. AAVSO Observer AAVSO Observer UT Mag. Initials UT Mag.
