DO Dra Outburst

AAVSO Newsflash Special Notice (January 23, 2004)
DO Dra appears to be in outburst according to these visual observations:

   1137+72 DO DRA (DQ)
JAN 23.2292UT 14.5 SXN M. Simonsen Imlay City, Michigan, USA
JAN 23.7326 11.4 KWO W. Kriebel Osterwaal, Germany
JAN 23.7583 11.0 OCN C. Otten Kinrooi, Belgium
JAN 23.8083 11.5 RWG W. Renz Karlsruhe, Germany

According to the AAVSO International Database the last outburst of
DO Dra began on September 24, 2001. DO Dra reached a peak of around
10.1 and faded down to quiescense in about 4 days. DO Dra has
been observed in the past in X-ray by the RXTE satellite. It was
determined to have a unique system geometry for an intermediate magnetic
variable (polar). Since the outburst is short lived this gives
CCD observers a chance to get time series coverage of most of the
outburst of a unique CV. Such data could be valuable to the long
term analysis of this star and other polars.

AAVSO validated light curve dating back to around 2446000 showing the
  five previous outbursts:
