Dr. Margarita Karovska (Harvard-Smithsonian CfA) and collaborators
request intensive observations of the symbiotic star CH Cygni
beginning immediately (2008 June 07), and continuing through 2008
June 15. Nightly monitoring is requested through the end of June
2008.
Dr. Karovska and collaborators are studying the accretion and jet
formation processes in this symbiotic star using both Hubble Space
Telescope and Chandra X-Ray Observatory observations to be made
beginning 2008 June 09. Optical observations by AAVSO observers are
requested to provide photometry that supplements the high angular
resolution imaging to be conducted by the space-based observatories.
Both visual and instrumental observations are requested, and intensive
V-band photometry is particularly encouraged if possible. If possible,
multicolor photometry is also encouraged, and all optical bandpasses
from UBV through near-IR (RIJH) are valuable.
CH Cyg is located at RA: 19 24 33.10 , Dec: +50 14 29.0 (J2000)
Charts for CH Cyg may be plotted using VSP:
