AAVSO Special Notice #51

V5558 Sgr chart update
June 29, 2007

The slow nova V5558 Sgr appears to be close to or
brighter than m(vis) = 7.6, and brighter comparison
stars than the initial bright limit of the chart
may be required. If necessary, please use the two
additional comparison stars for this object that
may be obtained by plotting a 240-arcmin chart
with VSP:

http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/vsp/

The brighter of the two new comparison stars
(HD 167771) extends the sequence for V5558 Sgr
to m(vis)=6.5. As before, both visual and
instrumental photometric observations are
urgently requested as this object continues
to exhibit anomalous behavior.

Coordinates for V5558 Sgr are:
RA 18:10:18.26, Dec -18:46:51.9 (J2000)

Please report observations to the AAVSO as
1804-18 V5558 SGR.

Matthew Templeton
