Outburst of the WZ-type dwarf nova HV Vir
February 14, 2008

The infrequently outbursting WZ Sge-type dwarf nova HV Vir is
currently in outburst.  HV Vir was detected in outburst by
Rod Stubbings (Tetoora Road, Victoria, Australia) at a visual
magnitude of 11.5 on 2008 Feb 14.601 (JD 2454511.101; 
vsnet-alert 9912), and was confirmed by Akira Arai et al 
(KANATA team; vsnet-alert 9913) at V = 12.4 on 2008 Feb 
14.6389 (JD 2454511.1389).  The most recent observations of 
HV Vir in the AAVSO International Database indicate the star
was fainter than m(vis)=14.8 on 2008 Feb 10.147 (JD 2454506.647;
Gary Poyner, Birmingham, England, UK).  Visual and instrumental
observations of this rare outburster are requested, including
instrumental time-series photometry.

HV Vir is located at RA: 13 21 3.10 , Dec: +01 53 30.0 (J2000).
