Suggested Stars for PEP Observers
The AAVSO Photoelectric Photometry (PEP) Program is a specific list of stars with small amplitude light changes, usually less than one magnitude. These are bright stars observable with a 6 or 8 inch telescope and photoelectric photometer.
The charts include the variable and a specific comparison and check star. There is a well defined, specific set of procedures and processes to obtaining PEP data for submission to the database. Everything is standardized, including the observation sequence.
The five stars suggested for beginning PEP observers are CE Tau, RS Cnc, IN Hya, W Boo and rho Cas. To find out how to get started go here.
