Where to find special notices

Due to the New England winter storm currently affecting the area, phone coverage at the AAVSO may be much reduced until Wednesday. The staff is still available via email, and we suggest using that method to contact us if you need assistance.

I went looking for special notice #300 (suspect object in the Hyades) this afternoon.  I couldn't find it.  In the meantime #301 had been issued, and that was not apparent on the website.  #299 is the last one available on the special notice archive page.

BITD, new AAVSO Alerts etc. were prominently featured on the web site - are they there somewhere now, and I'm just not seeing them, or is the only way to see what's current to root through my e-mail?  I ask because I was posting something via social media, and I wanted a link to the special notice itself.

Hi Jim,

The web versions for alerts and special notices are not automatically generated -- they're currently created like all other web pages by the staff.  We ran out of time yesterday -- Special Notices 300 and 301 will go online this morning.  I apologize for not getting that done before going offline for the evening.

In the meantime, the Alert and Special Notice archives can be accessed by going to the "Observing" tab -- Alert and Special Notices are the fourth item from the top in the drop-down menu.  You can also find them in the same way under the "About Us" tab, in the "Publications" submenu.
