AAVSO ALERT NOTICE 275 (May 10, 2000)

0755+67  SUPERNOVA 2000ce IN UGC 4195 IN CAMELOPARDALIS

We have been informed by the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams (IAU
Circular 7417
) that Tim Puckett, Mountain Town, GA, discovered an apparent
supernova on May 8.13 UT in UGC 4195 at unfiltered CCD magnitude 15.0 using
his 0.35-m automated supernova patrol telescope.  The object was present on a
frame taken by him on May 9.05 UT, but not on one taken Mar. 23.23, nor on
Palomar Sky Survey images from 1955 Jan. 29 and 1997 Feb. 5 (limiting magnitude
~20.0 and 21.0, respectively).

Puckett reported the position of the supernova, which is located 15.1" east
and 17.3" north of the center of the galaxy, as:

     R.A. = 08h 05m 09.45s    Decl. = +66 degrees 47' 15.2" (equinox 2000.0)

Accompanying is an image of UGC 4195 showing SN 2000ce, provided by Puckett,
with V-adapted comparison star magnitudes from the USNO-A2.0 catalogue added
by K. Malatesta, AAVSO Headquarters.  Please use this image and comparison star
sequence to observe 0755+67 SN 2000CE and report your observations to AAVSO
Headquarters.  Please be sure to indicate which comparison stars you used to
make your observations.  An AAVSO Preliminary chart will be posted on the AAVSO
website once it has been prepared.

Congratulations to Tim on his latest discovery!
