(Abstract only) The inexpensive Lynxx CCD camera proved very effective in imaging an artificial star created 90 km above Yerkes Observatory in 1991. The sub-visual target was a "laser guide star" made by a team from the University of Chicago and the Yerkes Observatory Engineering and Technical Services Center. Laser guide stars will eventually be common at observatories that are using adaptive optics.
