Abstract

Tau Cassiopeiae (K1IIIa) appears to be non-variable in light and velocity, despite published indications to the contrary. The origin and propagation of the claims of variability are relevant, in a broader context, to (1) the certification and documentation of stellar variability and (2) the nature of the more than 200 suspected K-giant variable stars in the Yale Catalogue of Bright Stars.
