October 5-30
CCD Photometry 2  Registration Now Open
Instructor- Dave Cowall

This course will use the second half of the newly-released AAVSO Guide to CCD Photometry and will cover topics including optimal image photometry settings and techniques, transformation, and basic error estimation. We'll also discuss how to plan an observing run to optimize the scientific return of your observations. Part 1 of this course is not a prerequisite, but is very strongly encouraged for new CCD photometrists.  Image processing software is required, but images will be provided for those without their own equipment.

So how do I access the course?

Hello Mike,

I just signed up for the CCD Part 2 course but wonder how to access the lessons. Are there specific dates?

Log in to AAVSO

Go to the main forum page https://www.aavso.org/forum

Scroll down to the members only forums section. It should already be expanded to show two forums if youhave logged in. If you only see the section header click on it and it should expand.

Click on the CHOICE: CCD Photometry, Part two forum and that will take you to the forum. There aren't video lessons as you may be accustomed to with on-line courses on Coursera or edX. Information, links, references to external reading and discussion are grouped by week-by topic within the forum.

Hope this helps.
