UX Orionis seems to be undergoing a quick fade in brightness, by over a magnitude in 24 hours!

As usual, I'm behind in reporting estimates to the database, but here's a summary of what I've seen so far over the last three weeks:

  August 22 9:11 UT = 9.2 magnitude.

  August 24 9:11 UT = 9.2 magnitude.

  August 29 8:59 UT = 9.3 magnitude.

  August 30 8:45 UT = 9.2 magnitude.

  September 11 8:22 UT = 9.8 magnitude.

  September 12 8:43 UT = 11.0 magnitude.

  Thanks and good observing!

  Paul

Well, now you have Paul. Congratulations! Also, this shows the value of visual observing. Watch this space (sorry)

Unfortunately, Mike, I've been clouded out here for the last three mornings so I'm not sure whether UX Ori is still faded out or brightened up as quickly as it dimmed! I hope someone else has had a look or two at it.

Thanks Douglas! I've had some clear skies since the last post but now I am trying to recover from a nasty case of bronchitis. Haven't been able to get out and observe it yet. I saw from your last estimate that now UX Ori might be starting to brighten up again!
