Does the AAVSO keep an archive of old Alert Notices in text format?  I've seen the page at:

http://www.aavso.org/alert-notice-archive

but this is html and not text.  I'm looking for a quick way to download 100's of alert notices in text format so I recycle my old paper copies.

Thanks,

Bob

Plain text archive for Alert Notices

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry, but we do not have a complete TEXT archive of Alert (or Special) Notices. I do have plain text copies of the most recent ~75 notices I could give you, but not the earlier ones.

For each AN, you could copy and paste the web page content into a Word document - that would preserve most of the formatting and give you an electronic copy. It's not that quick, but I don't think scanning the paper copy to a searchable pdf, or using really good OCR software on a scanner, would be much faster.

The earliest Alert Notices (1-136) are not available through the archive page yet, but html versions of them exist. Please contact me off-list if you would like to talk about them.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth

Re: Plain text archive for Alert Notices

Thanks Elizabeth for the quick reply.  I need numbers ~160 through 260 in text form.  I'll experiment with my browser and Word or Notepad.  I just wanted to check if they were already available as text before I spent the time doing this.
