Hello all!

I observed optical afterglow of GRB 210702A on July 3, 2021, remotely at iTelescope T17. My measurements of magnitude: 18.6 i' +/- 0.4 and 19.0 r' +/- 0.5 about 14 hours after the trigger. More information: https://gcn.gsfc.nasa.gov/gcn3/30364.gcn3 (in the GCN circular #30364).

Hopefully we will soon have some AAVSO hosted space to share GRB afterglow observations in a centralized way.

I would also like to congratulate you on your work with GRBs. As HB mentioned, it would be an advantage to have a centralized way to archive and access the data. To my knowledge, there is nothing formal happening at this time toward that end.

But I have an idea. If you would be willing to write up the procedure you use to obtain GRB images (filter type, length of exposure, stacking, etc.) and submit to this forum, we might be able to create a separate "GRB page" on the HEN website. That might be a good start to developing a more comprehensive GRB data base. You would, of course, get full credit for all of your work. Let me know what you think about this.

Thank you for your congratulation to me!

Do you mean site  https://www.aavso.org/hen ? I think creating a separate page is good. What do you need from me: a list of my observations of GRB afterglows with full information (filters, times, remote telescopes, links to circulars, photos)? Only positive, or even upper limits?

Or does it need to be done as my experience in the form of a manual?

Yes, a GRB page would be on the link you indicated. It would probably best fit into the box on the upper right side of the front page (High Energy Network, with the various links indicated) as a clickable link with a title something like "GRB/GRB Afterglow Observational Techniques". The information you mention will be good. Think of this page as information that a beginner in GRB observations would need to be successful. As far as limits, I assume you mean limits or ranges of the various parameters you need for the observations (such as the amount of imaging time you need to observe a GRB of a particular magnitude). Any information will be helpful.

Regarding a manual, I hadn't considered that but it's a great idea. We could fairly easily develop a downloadable PDF manual from your information. It could become one of the Observing Manuals included in the AAVSO database (such as the CCD Photometry Guide).

So once we have your information, we can do both. I will be happy to lead that effort. I can put together all the information you send (just put it on this forum if you like). When I finish, I'll send you a review copy to be sure I got everything correct. The web page creation is typically done by Sara Beck (she worked with me to create the HEN website early last year).

Also, a GRB page/manual will likely be very helpful in the future since I am trying to put together a project with professional astronomers that are very interested in GRB research.
