The AAVSO has joined Astronomers Without Borders to support them during their GAM (Global Astronomy Month) activities.
AAVSO Bulletin 79 - Predicted Dates of Maxima and Minima for 381 Long Period Variables for 2016 is published and available on the AAVSO website. This publication covers the interval 1 January 2016 through 28 February 2017. All Bulletin-related materials may be found via the main Bulletin page.
In AAVSO Bulletin 79 there are two stars that exhibit double maxima: R Cen and R Nor. These stars therefore have primary and secondary maxima and minima. They are not included in the main Bulletin table. Their predicted dates of maximum and minimum for January 2016 through February 2017 are presented here in list form (JD and Gregorian calendar dates) and in approximation of the main Bulletin table format.
AAVSO Bulletin 79 - Predicted Dates of Maxima and Minima of Long Period Variables for 2016 - is published in the format that was introduced in 2011. The information that was included in earlier numbers of the Bulletin is included in this format, along with more information. The Bulletin does not include stars that do not have an AAVSO mean curve. Please read all of the materials provided to familiarize yourself with the customizable format of the Bulletin and all the ways you can use it in your variable star observing and research.
