Standardized Magnitude

The membership database is currently undergoing upgrading/testing. Web functions that involve an interface with the member database (webobs, etc.) may experience intermittent problems. We hope to have this issue resolved within 24 hours (by 5pm Eastern Time on October 1st or 12:00 UT). Thank you for your patience.

The standardized magnitude for the variable is given by

Vstd = (Vins - Cins) + Cstd

where Vins is the instrumental magnitude of the variable, Cins is the instrumental value of the comparison, and Cstd is the chart magnitude for the comparison (or the equivalent for ensemble photometry).

Note that 'standardized' does NOT mean that Landolt Standards were used as comparison stars.
