Profiles -- Who can see or find?

The Find a Member/Observer search works very well, but seems to be very limiting -- I can search for members or observers near me, which could be a nice way to get together for a local/regional meet & greet, etc...

BUT, let's say I want to know who another observer is, but all that's displayed is that person's observer code ?  How is one member to see -- or even find -- the profile of another observer?  On AAVSO plots we can see an observing code matched to an actual name, and the country where that observer lives, but I have not discovered how to then look up an observer and see their supposedly public profile.

Am I missing something here?

Only Crickets, Apparently...

So, it appears we have profiles, but there is almost no way to actually find them, or to match an observer code to a human name.  Sad that privacy concerns appear to outweigh community building to such a large degree.

Privacy

I for one do not like the idea, and ask that my information be shielded.  If someone wants it, let them submit a request, and I can decide whether or not to let them have it.  The last thing I need is more junk e-mail from telescope stores, etc trying to sell me something.

You can watch a profile by

You can watch a profile by choosing "contact" and remove the "/contact" from the URL.

Real private

If you try to contact yourself, you get an "Access Denied".

Apparently, we want observers that don't talk to themselves.

But then, the remove contact trick works.
