We are looking for an experienced DSLR observer to teach a CHOICE course on DSLR Photometry. If you think you might be interested in helping others to learn the skillls needed to produce scientifically useful data, this is your chance to get involved.

Here is the course description from past years:

This course will utilize the AAVSO DSLR Observing Manual as its guide. This manual is a basic introduction and guide to using a DSLR camera to make variable star observations. The target audience is first-time beginner to intermediate level DSLR observers, although advanced observers may find the content useful as well.

For those who are not familiar with our CHOICE course program, here are a few points:

  • Courses are taught through the use of a special forum which is open only to students who register for the course and pay a small fee.
  • Instructors are welcome to use reading assignments, observing assignments, videos or whatever techniques they think will best help their students to learn the material.
  • The courses are not run real-time so what time zone you are in compared to the students makes no difference.
  • Courses generally run for four weeks but this can vary depending on needs of the individual courses.
  • We can be very flexible to offer the course when it best fits your schedule.
  • This is an volunteer position.
