Autocorrelation plot
Is there possibility to draw autocorrelation plot with VStar? If not - is there algorithm for calculation of autocorrelation function with Excel?
Is there possibility to draw autocorrelation plot with VStar? If not - is there algorithm for calculation of autocorrelation function with Excel?
It is written in VSX FAQ:
Is it possible to display noted phases in VStar plots? I treid to change Domain axis range limits in Properties, but it does not affect on phase curve range -1...+1.
Dear obsrvers, help me please to understand how to use sets of simple* data (gotten from different sources) in one plot? All of them are "unspecified" for VStar, and all my attempts to separate sets with creation of serias or adding of obs. codes were unsucsessfull. I guess, that it should be very simple operation, but I can not understand how to do it, how to select and shift each simple dataset indepenpendently from other ones.

Dear all
I did images in B and R of a star and uploaded to aavso
I would like to see the difference of shape in the two lightcurves by superimposing the 2 LC
I do not know how to do.
Thanks for the process

Dear observers, could you please explain how to use ZTF data with VStar? I use simple format [JD, Mag], but VStar avoid to import just one simple file. How to join in the plot zg and zr data, if VStar avoid one unspecified data set? And other question - how to join ZTF with AAVSO imported lightcurve? There is some kind of incompatibility between simple csv and download txt formats.
When searching for a period for the star KELT KC11C028126, I used ZTF survey data (2 files: zg and zr) for input via VStar's Flexible Text Format File plug-in. After loading both files, I shifted the g data up over the r (by -0.65) using the Baseline Shifter tool.
Now that I'm able to import ASAS-SN data thanks to the revised plugin, I have a question or two. I have analyzed several data sets but the period that results from DC-DFT (using the top hit) never seems to match what ASAS-SN has calculated. Further, when I do a Phase Plot using VStar's calculated period, it is generally messy, indicating the period is incorrect.
Let me illustrate this with the data for the eclipsing binary BV Ant.
Here is the data I'm using: ASASSN-V-BV_Ant.csv
Hi all
Just a brief note to say that a new release of VStar is under development, and has been for several months, and that silence does not mean inaction. Slowly but surely...
The release date is to be determined.
There have been a couple of development snapshots created in that time:
https://www.aavso.org/vstar-development-releases
the last one being in January.
Gaia Data Release 3 brings us an extensive light curves database (epoch photometry). The data are sparsed yet could be helpful in combination with other surveys to refine variable star parameters. Currently, VStar cannot open the Gaia DR3 epoch photometry directly.
I have been running VSTAR a lot on my old MacBook Pro, where the usual mode is to take my own light curves into a text file (just a listing of HJD and mag for many lines) that I usually name “ft.dat”. When I got a new MacBook Pro (running MacOS Big Sur version 11.4), roughly two years ago, my old system was ported to the new laptop, but VSTAR did not work at all. Recently, I tried downloading the most recent version, but could never get it working. The thought was that the new improved processor on my latest laptop (Apple M1 chip) was incompatible with VSTAR.
