I've moved to town and cant use my equiment for observing. I've been using iTelescope for the HST campaign for dwarf novae, but it is fairly expensive to use frequently and would like to see if the AAVSOnet telescope would be appropiate. The dwarf nova for January is fairly faint, so I thought that I might start with VW Hyd-which is fairly bright. I would like to have an object that is observable in the southern hemesphere so that I might use the iTelescope with a diffraction grating to check the spectra during various phases. I need to prepare a proposal and need help to calculate the time interval, filters needed and exposure time. I appears-from AAVSO data-that the reular eruptions are avout one per month and super eruptions about every five months-it looks like one might be coming up. The manitude varies from 8-14.4. Any help would be appreciated.

VW Hyi

VW Hyi is an easy target to get with AAVSOnet.  Superoutbursts might be a bit bright for the FSMs, but would be fine with the BSMs.  The nice thing about AAVSOnet is that its use is free for AAVSO members - you don't have to pay for iTelescope.  We don't have any diffraction gratings on southern telescopes at this time.

Submit a proposal!  You just need to write a short paragraph stating that you are supporting the Alert Notice campaign.

VW Hyi observations

Hi Richard,

I am observing VW Hyi since the last superoutburst in BVI time series (data are with the AAVSO) from my remote observatory ROAD in Chile.

If you are interested you may download the data from the AAVSO database.
