Hello, spectroscopy friends.

I've been getting spectral images from one of the wonderful AAVSOnet setups.

Data reduction was then started using the software BASS but I was surprised by the fact that image tilting correction with it does a poor job. RSpec does it much better. I would enclose a small image file (45 kb) illustrating how BASS does tilting correction but it seems that this forum does not allow file attachment - that's a pity.

This is not to say that one software is superior to the other - as it might mean comparing apples and oranges - but I would like to know what you would recommend doing - or using - for the data reduction of hundreds of spectral images with the same degree of tilting.

I will stress to our dear AAVSOnet operators the importance of better positioning the camera and grating but that won't help with the images already available to me. Please advise, thank you.

Cheers,

Ari

Hi!,
I've been using Bass…

Hi!,
I've been using Bass for a few years and I regularly chat with John Paraskeva, the software designer, he's very available.
Did you ask the question in the dedicated Bass Project forum?
