I am putting together my first JAAVSO paper, and would like to submit it in the style of the publication.  While there are good guidelines and examples galore, the Microsoft Word template at...

... is not in the style of the journal.  In particular, I would like to be able to submit a properly formatted table, which is difficult to duplicate using Word's odd table formatting.

Could the AAVSO provide a Word template that is a published paper with tables and figures, such that we can simply write over the top of it?  Thanks.

Formatting a JAAVSO submission

Hi Tom,

Thanks very much for planning to submit a paper to JAAVSO!

We prepare the JAAVSO using InDesign.  This is why we request papers to be submitted using Word or LaTeX. By following the format given in the samples you will be helping us the most because the format will be most compatible with how we have InDesign configured. Don't worry that what you send us does not look exactly like the published version - even if it did we would have to reformat it. Once we have put your paper into InDesign and formatted it, you will be sent a proof to check over, and we will make any necessary adjustments in formatting.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth Waagen (Associate Editor, JAAVSO)
