I am wondering if AAVSO has a 'library' for the use of members? I have seen a book I am coveting something rotten, but can't really afford it at the moment! It's called (you can probably see this coming) 'The formation of stars' by Stahler/Palla. Anyone got a spare copy they don't want?

Strahler Book

If you go to worldcat.org, they will provide a list of libraries near you that have the book.  I googled it and the best price I saw was $52 with free shipping for the soft cover.

I hope this helps,

Roger

Hi:

Depending on where you are located physically. I would assume that a local library would suffice.  Most often they can even tell you who might have the book.  I support my local library alot and find that they might have the book that you want to borrow.  Just ask them.  Best HNL

Yes, I found that too - but

Yes, I found that too - but it was under 'libraries' so I was expecting somewhere that you could borrow a book from, not buy it. My local library (the Norwich Millennium library) has won awards and I use it regularly, but I'm pretty sure a public library such as this wouldn't have such a specialised book. But always worth a try I suppose!

AAVSO library

The AAVSO does have a library - the Charles Y. McAteer Library - at Headquarters. However, it is not a lending library, that is, books are not loaned out. Anyone is welcome to use the library during our regular hours (M-F 9-5 Eastern time), or by appointment in special circumstances.
