Dear all,
I am from Reunion Island and following the mira 's spectrum variation with a star analyser. I dont understand the 7600A spike. Is it a process error or a real variation of the star ?

Thanks,
Emmanuel

Mira spectrum

Hi Robin,

You're right, i didn't remove the differents telluric spikes from my instrumental response.... and i think i have a calibration issue with the Hydrogen Balmer...
I will restart the process

Thanks,
Emmanuel

Dear All,

Dear All,

I removed the telluric lines from my differents instrumental response, the result seems better even if i have a calibration issue with the Hdelta and gamma. I hope the graph shows the real variation of Mira and not another problem in the process...

Thanks,

Emmanuel

Mira Spectrum

To:  Emmanuel,

Nice Mira spectrum!  When you feel proficient, youmay want to invest in higher resolution spectroscope(s) like the Alpy600 or LISA.  Here is a composite spectrum I took of Mira approximately the same time as yours with my Alpy600 working btw 3700-7400A and my LISA in IR mode working at 6200-9600A, stiched together. Looks like we agree on H-delta & H-gamma, but Alpy600 has 4-6x the resolution of the SA200 grating so the emission lines look more intense in mine, but definetly shows in yours.  Note that Mira's spectrum (like most cool M stars) gets stronger well into the IR.
