In perusing the LCG lightcurves  this morning I noted that observer CMP (Richard Cambpell) reports a positive (i.e. not a fainter than) estimate for the rarely outbursting CV  star UV PER on August 16.28UT.

IF THIS IS NOT A MISTAKE, it would be important to take note of this event as it would have occurred only a very short time after this star's previous confirmed outburst in late June of this year. If indeed a real outburst, I believe this could represent the shortest interval, by far, between brightening of this star that has ever been reported.

On the previous night CMP had reported a  (14.1  for this star, so there is a chance that the "fainter than" symbol was just accidentally omitted. However, the situation really needs to be made clear and perhaps HQ, or maybe SXN, can contact Richard and clarify the matter.

UV Per

I put it in my observing queue.  Weather prospects for Eastern Missouri look pretty good so I should be able to get a measurement early tomorrow morning.

Possible Outburst of UV PER?

I just checked my records and that definitely should be a fainter than. Sorry about the confusion.I wish Webobs would show the < sign instead of a 0 or 1 . Again my apologies.

Not a probablem, Rich. We all

Not a problem, Rich. We all omit a "fainter than" symbol occasionally in our reporting of estimates...I know because I did it myself this very morning when entering my last evening's data. I did however catch it in my review of the estimates before finishing.

Anyway, the question has been answered and the "outburst" omitted from the record. Too bad, as this could have been an important event had it been real.  ;)
