Question on "Days per Mean Series Bin" value in Light Curve Control

I have a question on "Days per Mean Series Bin" value in Light Curve Control when applying this to a light curve and not a phase plot.  The manual says (page 34):

"Binned mean series update:

○Checkbox to join mean data points.

○Spinner and text-box for number of days or phase steps per bin.

The Apply button must be clicked for a change to this value to be acted upon."

I thought I understood this to mean that if I set the bin value to 5 days there would be a "bin" that would collect all of the Mag observation data for 5 calendar days and produce a "mean" Mag for those 5 days.  What I seem to be getting is a "bin" that contains data from 5 days that only had data even if the 5 days of data occurred over 7 or 8 calendar days (or more). It appears that days that had no data are ignored which seems to me might skew the results.

I'm trying to clarify what "Days per Mean Series Bin" is representing!

I'm using VStar 2.16.9.

Many thanks!

Hi Frank

Thanks for your message. I agree that an N day bin should consist of N calendar days.

I'll check VStar's behaviour, but it may be useful for us to talk about a particular example dataset. Can you suggest a variable and JD range in AID that we can talk about in relation to this?
