I have taken some shots of variable star RR PER through a V and B filter and I can see that there are 2 additional stars in the field I would like to measure. When I invoke the GCVS command in the Catalogs menu in VPHOT those stars are listed as: TYC 3307-1036-1 and 2MASS J02310475+5123252 but I cannot find them in VSX. I cannot report the data to the AAVSO as I get an error message in WebObs saying that the above-mentioned references are invalid.

Thank you for your help and Happy New Year

submitting stars to VSX

Gianluca,

As you have discovered, the database will not accept measurements for stars which are not included in VSX.  To submit stars for inclusion first log on to VSX, then go to Submit.  You will then be presented with a page of information which explains how to request stars be included.

VSX names

Dear Gianluca,

Actually TYC 3307-1036-1 is listed as BEST F2_18704 in VSX. It's a DSCT variable with 0.03 mag amplitude.
2MASS J02310475+5123252 is listed as BEST F2_18499, however you can find it in VSX using the 2MASS J02310475+5123252 alias as well.

If you want to submit observations for these two variables to AAVSO, you need to request an AUID for these stars.

Clear skies,

Robert

AUID's requested

Thank you Robert.

Gianluca,

I requested AUID's for both theses stars.  I don't remember how long this takes, but you might check the VSX listings in a few days using the names Robert provided.
