The European F-CHROMA consortium is organizing a solar flare observation campaign for amateur astronomers - the F-HUNTERS campaign. Dominik Gronkiewicz, F-HUNTERS Campaign Coordinator, reports that "the campaign will take place between 19 and 27 September 2015. Professional observations will be held at the same time in largest solar observatories. All owners of telescopes that can be used for solar astrophotography are welcome. I think many members of AAVSO solar section could be interested in participation...More details...can be found on our website. I also will be happy to answer any questions [there is an email interface on the website]."

F-CHROMA is a project funded by the European Commission under Framework 7, that focuses on space-based and ground-based multi-mode, multi-wavelength study of solar flares. The goals of F-CHROMA are to acquire, analyze, and interpret ground- and space-based observational data of solar flares, test these against model predictions, and create an archive of solar flare observations and models, with major emphasis on their chromospheric aspects.

Good observing!

yesterday the sun had 6 flares in a row

The large active region AR2422 pushed out 5 consequitive C class flares and one M class flare (2100 UT). As this happened during the daylight time I recored this with the VLF receiver here in Fort Collins, Colorado (see attached).

Perhaps someone has taken some H-alpha images of this region yesterday?
