Welcome to the VSX forum!

We decided to create this forum to ensure our membership is aware of the
behind the scenes work we do in VSX every day (so it stops being "behind
the scenes"!).

VSX was created in 2005 and, after almost 10 years, has become the most
complete catalogue of variable stars in the world. It's also the most
up-to-date one, thanks to the support of the AAVSO staff and volunteers
and the variable star community that helps us by revising known variable
stars and submitting new ones.

VSX lists V0523 Lyr as having Variability Type NL/VY. But photometry that is included in Steve B. Howell et al 2013 AJ 145 109   shows it to be SU UMa instead with outbursts and one superoutburst.

Hi. I am studying a star, found in the SuperWASP program, which in VizieR is reported in "LAMOST spectroscopic binaries & variable stars (Qian+, 2019)" .  I do not find any period or type. Should I credit these authors as discoverers?

(star is Gaia DR3 2564437565562967936)

Thank you

Franco

Possible vsx catalog duplicates?

I ran a query to identify 18 pairs of VSX records having identical ra/dec coordinates.  (There is no triple overlap.)  A few of these might be duplicates, others mostly due to coordinate precision or lack there of.    It looks like the ra/dec of WD J1117-1255 was transcribed incorrectly.

Hi,

So far, I have recovered the ASAS-3 data using the link inside the VSX. However, if my star has not already been inserted into VSX (for a new submission), what is the correct procedure for accessing the data? On the ASAS portal I can't understand where could be a "search" field.

Thanks

Hi All.

In the past was quite simple via MAST portal to dowload TESS FITS file with the observation ( appeared a folder with compressed data, and, more, appeared a windows with a simple way to test various periods, now ewerything is disappeared...)

Is there an easy way to download the file that can be read with the VStar plugin?

Thanks

Franco
