There are two CHOICE courses coming up next week that I think everyone should know about!

How to use VStar - This fabulous class is a comprehensive introductory course on how to use the AAVSO's variable star data plotting and analysis tool, VStar. Not only will you learn how to create attractive, publication-quality light curves (using AAVSO data or your own), but you will also learn how to use many of VStar's other features - making phase or mean plots, loading data from many different sources, and simple period analysis, among other things. Please note that completion of this course is a prerequisite for the new, more advanced CHOICE course "Analyzing Data with VStar" which will be offered in June for the first time.

Photoelectric Photometry (PEP) in the 21st Century - This brand new course being taught by Photoelectric Photometry Program chair Jim Kay, is a must for anyone interested in taking up or improving their accuracy using PEP observing equipment. It is also recommended for anyone interested in gaining a fundamental understanding of photometric measurement of variable stars. Also covered, will be the history of PEP technology and its continuing relevance today.

Both courses will run for four weeks from May 8 to June 2 and each costs just $30 for members, $50 for non-members.
