Special Notice #418: RX And monitoring needed for VLA observations

July 5, 2016: Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 539, Deanne Coppejans and colleagues request optical monitoring of the Z Cam dwarf nova RX And in support of their campaign to observe it with the Very Large Array (VLA) in their ongoing radio jet research.

Deanne writes in a post to the AAVSO Forum thread on this campaign: "We are going to try and catch RX And in quiescence again in the next three weeks. The optical coverage of it is still sparse, so any observations you take of it will be extremely useful."

This thread may be followed at https://www.aavso.org/northern-dwarf-novae-campaign

Observers are asked to monitor RX And from now through at least the end of July. Observers will be notified when the VLA observations have been made and the campaign is concluded - please continue your observations until then. High-cadence monitoring is not needed; nightly observations are sufficient to determine whether RX And is in outburst or quiescence. Two observations (widely spaced) per night would be helpful.

Coordinates for RX And: R.A. 01 04 35.52  Dec. +41 17 57.8

Charts with comparison stars for RX And may be created using the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter (VSP).

Please report observations to the AAVSO International Database using the name RX AND.

This campaign is being followed on the AAVSO Observing Campaigns page.
