Hi all...
This has been going on for several days. If I open an image (that has been plate solved) and select Catalogs > GCVS. I get the following message:
No variable stars found. This field might not contain any known variable stars, or the SIMBAD service might be unavailable.
I've tried Google Chrome browser and the IE browser, and I've tried this on a different computer (never used for evaluating variable stars).
I've also tried images that have already been analyzed (so at one time VPHOT identified the variable stars in the field), to no avail.
Some of these star fields are very familiar to me so I know that the variable star of interest is in the field.
I don't see any chatter about this, but I don't think it could be happening to just me. Any ideas?
Thanks.. Bill
Did you try using the VSX catalog instead of the GCVS?
Phil
Hi Phil;
The VSX catalog works, so I suppose I can move forward. I've been using the GCVS catalog for years, though with good results.
Thanks for the idea.
Bill
