ST402 USB-B Connector Broken

Hello! The USB-B Connector on my ST-402 has given up the ghost.

The central spacer has been loose for a while and frequently came out when I disconnected the USB cord from the camera. I was able to extend the life of the connector with gentle use - even once placing a tiny drop of white glue on the spacer to glue it to the base of the USB-B connector. However, last night, I was careless and bent the tines too much.

I have basic solder skills, and I can replace it. However, I have never taken apart the camera (of anything similar), and I am leery about breaking something to get to the board or failing to put it back correctly afterward

SBIG offers an authorized repair service. That will cost about $500 - $400 for service and shipping/handling/insurance both ways.

While I am heppy to pay the fee for specialized knowledge/service, I am a little hesitant to pay 25% of a new camera's cost to service and repair a 10-year-old camera.

Might there be other options for repair? Thank you and best regards.

Mike
