Not sure this is the correct forum, however, there seems to be at least part of a section missing from the downloadable pdf of the "AAVSO Manual for Visual Observing of Variable Stars". Page 4 ends discussing eyepiece designs. Page 5 (pdf page 11 of 66) begins part way through a discussion of atlases. I can't tell if the eyepiece section is complete. However, the heading and opening discussion of atlases is missing. Where should this be reported?
Thank you for wanting to use the Visual Observing Manual! The pdf looks okay to me. I went to the Manual for Visual Observing of Variable Stars link (https://www.aavso.org/visual-star-observing-manual) on the For Observers webpage (https://www.aavso.org/observers). I clicked on the link for downloading the manual:
All the content is there. Is that where you went? If not, please let us know the URL you used.
Thanks, and good reading and observing,
Elizabeth Waagen, HQ
Thanks for your reply. If you read the end of Page 4 and then the start of Page 5 it appears something is missing. The last paragraph of Page 4 is about eyepiece designs. The first sentence of the first paragraph of Page 5 is:
"Many are listed in Appendix 3 under “Atlases” and “Software”.
If you have to mark the position of the variable stars on your Atlas, you can get the RA and Dec coordinates from the header of your AAVSO Star Charts"
It appears to me there is a missing heading about atlases and the introductory sentence(s) of the paragraph.
I see what you are saying, Mike. However, nothing is missing - page 4 is a sidebar on eyepieces. It has a title and is presented in a smaller-size font and is more closely spaced than the regular text. The text flow about atlases from the bottom of page 3 to the top of page 5 is complete.
Thank you, Elizabeth. I see what you mean. I think I got interrupted at the end of page 3 and then resumed reading. I missed that page 4 is a sidebar. Sorry to raise the alarm.
