     A preprint posted to astro-ph on Monday describes the upcoming flare event for the much-observed blazar OJ 287.  This is predicted for 2022 October, so folks interested should watch for this in the pre-dawn sky.  Details here:

Thanks for the heads-up, this is a truely exciting system to study. It's also not too  faint, so a nice target for people with medium size instruments!

OJ still faint

Observations over the past week show OJ still around 15.5, which is where we left it at Solar Conjunction (although we can't know of course what happened during conjunction).

Going on previous flares with OJ (and I have 30 years data), OJ should start to brighten any time now for the revised October date for this Autumn flare.
