Hello - I'm new to this topic and enjoying it.  I did not see in the guide how to determine the right "filter" when uploading a new image to VPhot?  At first I thought that this was related to the L,R,G,B Telescope filters, but I think instead it has to do with a statistical tool?  Can someone point me to a place that explains the different filters (e.g. Cousins, Johnson, etc.)?  Thank you very much.

Filters??

Christopher:

I think this question is better posed in the VPhot forum, if you are asking about uploading your images to VPhot?

Could you explain what camera/filters you are using for your images? Could you be more specific about what you are trying to upload and where you are doing that in VPhot?

For some general imaging information, have you read the CCD/CMOS Observers Guide? You could also do some basic web searches about different photometric filters.

Thank you for taking time to…

Thank you for taking time to respond Ken.  I have a lot to learn but am enjoying doing so, and enjoying the community,  I had gone through the VPhot manual but not the other that you mentioned and can check that out.  I had started using the Slooh service and found some more information on the filters there as well. Thank you for the guidance.

Defocussing

I plan to use planetary mono camera for vars evaluations and ask about defocussing: is it useful for 1 sec/px resolution in the case of Mac, which gives rings but not spots on defocused images?

Autostacking

Dear observers, what do you think about useability of Asiair autostacking for photometric images?
