Hi
I started submitting some observations yesterday. After five submissions got an error "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later." The error persists after 24 hours regardless of browser used. Have tried Chrome, Opera, Firefox and IE

Need more details of the error: Exact time of the event so we can check the log. Screen shot if the system is displaying error information.
Thx,
George
Hi
There is no further details on the error. The message indicated in the initial post is all that is no the page. I have tried it numerous times earlier today and the screen shot below is from the attempt just now.

now.
Can you please try signing out of the site and signing back in, or perhaps clear your cache?
It should look like this. If it still doesn't work I will investigate further.
It looks like as you say however the error message appears once I click the submit button. As noted in the first post the error did not appear in the first five submissions yesterday.
I have logged in and out many times and used at least four different browsers and two computer systems at different sites on different networks

It would appear the error is generated when trying to submit an observation of a star with no AUID.
Previous version of the submission page would prompt you if this was the case.
I resubmitted my observation of DX AND using the original report file with V669 AND deleted.
WebObs took the observation. So that must have been the issue.
I got the same error message, yesterday trying to upload a observation of DX AND.
Did it a few minutes ago this morning.....about 8:10 Pacific Standard Time.
I did reload the AAVSO report and still got the same message. Thanks....
I will share the analysis log with you.....SVD

I just went ahead and uploaded a five image stack of Z AND and it went through without any problems.
EDIT: Never mind...was my mistake (old data).... sorry,
-----------------------
I just submitted an observation for S5 1803+78 (EHEA obs code) and
So I'm kinda concerned that it didn't actually make it to the database !?
EDIT: I wonder whether it is the "+" in the name that is special here, because I have seen other obs making it all the way to the DB alnd LCG. Just a guess.

Hi,
since christmas I get the same error message (see subject) when I try to upload a text file.
Any news of a solution?
Hello!
Several students at an Illinois community college and I have collected data for three RR Lyr stars. We'd like to submit the data to the AAVSO database, and so they prepared a file. We're getting the same error message mentioned by others in this thread. We suspect it is to do with a mistake we've made with the file, and would appreciate any guidance so we can correct it. We've fiddled around putting "na" into CHART and NOTES, then the text we have now. We've also tried putting DELIM as "," instead of comma. The data were collected using the LCO scopes and processed using the Astrosource software, so should be calibrated to the standard systems. Here is our full file: /sites/default/files/users/user64004/aavso_data2b.txt We have also tried changing the end line conventions CR/LF, etc.
I'm sure that we've just done something silly.
Thanks
Tim

I'm seeing the website show the error "The file did not upload properly."
Is that what you are seeing?
George
Hi! The error message I see is "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.". I've been able to upload "test.txt" /sites/default/files/users/user64004/test.txt (attached to this note), so it seems it is something silly we've done with our data file that is causing the problem.
Hi Tim,
Looking at the file of UU Cet data above, one thing you need to change is your #DELIM line. Change it to
#DELIM=,
I can't tell from your post if you tried this or if you had quotes around the comma itself.
Please check to be sure you have no blank lines at the end of the file.
If you still can't upload the file, please send it to me and I'll be glad to look at it to see if I can figure out the problem.
Sorry you are having this trouble!
Elizabeth (eowaagen@aavso.org)
Thanks, I tried flipping #DELIM to that just now, and it unfortunately didn't work. I think our mistake is somewhere else in the file. I'll email the file across to you, many thanks for your help!
Thanks for all your help! We've been able to successfully upload the file to the staging area (where you asked if you want to continue) --- we added more fields, plus corrected an incorrectly coded Sloan Z filter (which certainly was throwing a spanner in the works). We'll add more info about the comparison stars into the header and then formally load up the data. The 4 students are pretty excited!
Could you please send the file of observations you are trying to submit to us? You can send it to me at eowaagen@aavso.org. That way we can look at it to see if there is an issue with the file format or content.
Thanks!
Elizabeth Waagen
Sir, this is Aniruddh Deshpande (DAND), I am receiving above massage foe last two days. Kindly help. I am trying to upload file
Hi Aniruddh,
Please read the message above - if you cannot upload a data file, send an email to <aavso@aavso.org> and attach the file you are trying to upload. We need to see the file to be able to help you determine what is wrong. Many thanks!
Good observing,
Elizabeth Waagen, AAVSO HQ
Hi Anuruddh,
Please accept our apologies for the recent trouble with uploading observations to the AAVSO International Database (AID).
The AID allows 6 decimal places of the JD, so if you submit an observation with more than 6 JD decimal digits, WebObs rounds it off. After the upgrade last week, this rounding function wasn’t working correctly.
It has been fixed. If you still have a problem submitting a file, please send an email to <aavso@aavso.org> along with a copy of the file.
If you are not able to upload a single observation, please fill out the form again, take a screenshot of the observation before you try to submit it, and if it fails again, send that screenshot with an email to <aavso@aavso.org>. The screenshot will allow us to see how you are filling out the fields.
Again, our apologies, and our thanks for your patience.
Good observing!
Elizabeth O. Waagen, AAVSO HQ
